A Day at Wally World

One memorable day was on Thanksgiving, in all my years I had never worked on holidays.  I had worked at a major university for over 20 years so working on holidays was against all thought processes.  But my husband had been laid off from his job so I was doing what I could to keep us afloat.  So on this somewhat chilly night in Texas it was pretty quiet until about 8:00 PM when I man in a sweater vest came marching in and asked the poor little old door greeter where the fireplace logs were at.  Well I know it's hard to believe but these stores are HUGE and the poor little door greeters usually do not know where items are, and the items get moved almost weekly.  So I was standing there and this well dressed man apparently left is well dressed manners in the car.  He yells loud enough to catch the attention of others and says "where in this store are fireplace logs?"  Well I said they are back along this wall and pointed to that area of the store.  The man actually yells at me "I do not have all night, my family is at home and it's THANKSGIVING".  Well my angel shoulder says "i'm sorry let me pick that up and carry it on my back to your home and light your fireplace while your family sips hot chocolate by the fireplace" and my devil shoulder said "YOU THINK I DON'T KNOW IT'S THANKSGIVING? MY FAMILY IS HOME WAITING ON ME SO I CAN EAT LEFTOVERS MORON."   This was just one of my fond memories of wally customers.

Wally Days

I worked part time for the Big Blue Box for over three years part time while holding down a full time job.  There were days that I cried, but more days that I laughed and had fun.  So here are my recounts of many days at Wally World.
